Tulett shows himself in the battle for a podium in fast edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège
# Tulett Battles for Podium in 112th Liège–Bastogne–Liège
In the fiercely contested 112th edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège, the race’s dynamics shifted early when the peloton split into two distinct groups. Menno Huising notably secured a spot in the front group, paving the way for a breakaway that established a formidable lead, though it ultimately didn’t influence the final outcome.
As the race intensified on the Côte de la Redoute, tensions mounted. Ben Tulett demonstrated tenacity and skill, proving himself a worthy competitor despite being unable to keep pace with the pre-race favorites, Tadej Pogačar and Paul Seixas. Pogačar rode solo to clinch victory, while Tulett found himself in the chase group, ultimately finishing in 13th place.
Reflecting on his performance, Tulett remarked, “I’m happy that I was able to fight for a strong result in a Monument.” He added, “From the start it was a really tough race. The pace was extremely high all day. On the Côte de la Redoute, I was well positioned, but there were simply two riders who were clearly the strongest. After that, I fought in the chase for a good result, but unfortunately I lost out in the sprint. I’m disappointed, but that’s part of racing.”
Team Visma’s Sports Director, Maarten Wynants, expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance. “We rode a strong race today with Ben. We were aiming for a top-ten finish, but unfortunately we just missed out. All in all, we can be satisfied, especially considering where we stood last week after the Amstel Gold Race.”
