Team Visma | Lease a Bike misses out on a top classification in Liège–Bastogne–Liège

# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Falls Short in Liège–Bastogne–Liège

In the tenth edition of the grueling Walloon classic, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, Team Visma | Lease a Bike faced stiff competition amidst challenging terrain featuring ten categorized climbs and over 2,800 meters of elevation. Despite an attacking spirit from Femke de Vries, who found herself in several breakaway attempts, the relentless pace of the peloton meant no escape was permitted.

As the race intensified on the Côte de la Redoute, Demi Vollering surged forward, successfully distancing herself from her competitors before concluding a remarkable 30-kilometer solo breakaway to claim victory. Meanwhile, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot struggled to maintain pace and ended up in a second chasing group, which also included Femke de Vries and Sarah Van Dam.

Reflecting on the day, Van Dam secured a thirteenth place finish, while Ferrand-Prévot crossed the line in twenty-second. “It was really tough today. I felt empty and didn’t have the legs needed to play a part in the final,” Ferrand-Prévot expressed. She acknowledged her team’s efforts, stating, “The team did a really good job keeping me at the front the whole day. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be today.”

Sports director Jos van Emden provided a candid assessment of the day’s performance. “We’d been really looking forward to this race, but we have to admit that we weren’t good enough today. We couldn’t match the standard set by Demi and her team. We’re now going to focus on the Vuelta and hope to perform better there.”

The results for Team Visma | Lease a Bike were as follows:

– **13th:** Sarah Van Dam (+02:52)
– **21st:** Femke de Vries (+05:08)

– **34th:** Marion Bunel (+06:51)
– **45th:** Viktória Chladoňová (+12:57)

As the team shifts their focus towards the upcoming Vuelta, they aim to regroup and come back stronger in future competitions.
