The 112th edition of the iconic Liège-Bastogne-Liège is set to take place this Sunday, presenting a challenging 260 kilometers for competitors, with over 4,000 meters of elevation gain. Key climbs, including the Côte de la Redoute and the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons, often play pivotal roles in determining the race’s outcome, marking the conclusion of the spring classics.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike enters this prestigious event with some challenges in their lineup. Team leader Matteo Jorgenson, 26, was forced to withdraw from the recent Amstel Gold Race due to a collarbone injury. Currently in recovery, Jorgenson’s absence has prompted the team to adjust its strategy for the upcoming race. On a positive note, Ben Tulett achieved a commendable third-place finish in La Flèche Wallonne, providing a glimmer of hope for the yellow-and-black team.

Maarten Wynants, the team’s sports director, reflected on their altered plans following Jorgenson’s injury: “After the Amstel Gold Race, we had to adjust our plans. Matteo had fully focused on this race, but unfortunately his spring campaign already came to an end last Sunday. Ben also had to miss the Amstel Gold Race after a crash at Itzulia Basque Country. However, last Wednesday in La Flèche Wallonne he showed that he’s now hitting good form.”

Wynants expressed confidence in his riders heading into Liège-Bastogne-Liège, stating, “We’re lining up with confidence. The riders are motivated to make something of it. Liège-Bastogne-Liège is one of the most important and most beautiful races of the season. The field is of a very high level, but we’ll do everything we can to show ourselves. We hope to achieve a strong result with Ben.”
