In an electrifying display on stage two of the Flèche du Sud, Matthew Brennan of Team Visma | Lease a Bike extended his unbeaten streak, clinching his second victory of the week. The race commenced with high intensity as several riders launched early attacks, leading to a breakaway of four. However, Team Visma | Lease a Bike kept a tight grip on the situation, allowing the escapees no more than a two-minute lead throughout the stage.
As the race neared its conclusion, Team Visma took charge in the chase, positioning Brennan perfectly for the final sprint. He delivered a stunning performance that saw him cross the finish line triumphantly, just inches ahead of his competitors. “This double win is good for confidence, very happy to finish it off,” Brennan stated, expressing his elation at securing back-to-back victories.
Positive news also emerged for Tijmen Graat, who had suffered a crash in the opening stage. Following examination by the team doctor and physiotherapist, Graat was found to have no lasting injuries and successfully completed the day’s stage, resuming his duties within the team.
