World Tour Rider Matteo Jorgenson to Lead Team USA at Maryland Cycling Classic

BALTIMORE, Md. – Highlighted by 24-year-old World Tour rider Matteo Jorgenson of Boise, Idaho, USA Cycling has announced its seven-rider roster for the 2023 Maryland Cycling Classic, presented by UnitedHealthcare, on Sunday, September 3rd.

“We are very excited about the team we are bringing to Maryland Cycling Classic. This race has been a big target for us, as it is the biggest race in the United States. Our team will be comprised of both youth and experienced riders,” said USA Cycling Road Director Tanner Putt. “I’m really excited about the prospect of our U23 riders racing with Matteo, who came up through the USA Cycling development pathway. His presence will play a pivotal role in aiding our young riders as they continue their development to professional racing.”

Jorgenson is currently the second-ranked U.S. rider and 39th in the UCI World rankings. He will line up for his first race since his injury at this summer’s Tour de France.

The Maryland Cycling Classic is the top-ranked one-day professional cycling race in America and features 16 teams of seven cyclists per team. The race is produced by Sport & Entertainment Corp. of Maryland led by Terry Hasseltine. The event’s chairman is John Kelly of Kelly Benefits. KOM Sports Marketing of Colorado Springs are the sponsorship, marketing, and communications agency. Medalist Sports of Peachtree City, Ga., are the event managers.
