BDR Offers B Coach Training for the First Time, Including B-Trainer Education in Cycling
The German Cycling Federation (BDR) is set to hold a B coach training course for the first time this year. The training, which will be conducted in a blended format, will begin with a digital kick-off in September and conclude with a 4-day compact course at the BDR headquarters in Frankfurt in October.
The BDR is offering this training specifically for participating state associations who are unable to provide their own coaching programs. The B-trainer education is designed to prepare trainers for their roles in club cycling training, covering areas such as training theory, sports science, nutritional strategies, coaching, talent identification, and other crucial knowledge.
Tim Böhme, the BDR national coach education, explains, “With the B-trainer education, we not only want to close a gap for the regional associations but also build a bridge between the C-trainer and A-trainer cycling education.”
The BDR education team follows the DOSB competence model and focuses on acquiring 50% new knowledge, refreshing/activating 25% of existing knowledge, and applying 25% of the covered knowledge. The training involves active collaboration between the trainers, concept creation in workshops, knowledge sharing, and networking. “Here in Frankfurt, we also see ourselves as a source of inspiration for trainers and talented individuals in practice,” adds Böhme.
The compact training concept has made it easier for club trainers to participate, and it offers an opportunity for C-licensed trainers to extend their license digitally through the BDR Trainer Club, meeting the admission requirements for the B coach training.
The deadline for registration is August 10. Böhme advises interested individuals to register quickly.
