The beloved Colombian rider, Miguel Angel Lopez, will be returning to the Astana Qazaqstan Team for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Lopez had previously spent six successful seasons with the team, achieving numerous victories and podium finishes.
In a statement, Lopez expressed his excitement about returning to his “home” team: “Coming back to the Astana team is a return home…we will be able to live many more wonderful moments…There is a lot of work ahead for the new season to be successful for me and for Astana Qazaqstan Team.”
During his previous stint with Astana, Lopez claimed GC victories at prestigious races such as Tour de Suisse, Volta a Catalunya, and Tour of Colombia. He also secured podium finishes at the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España. In the 2021 season, while riding for another team, he continued to perform well and achieved significant victories.
