Andrea Bagioli Surprises with Victory at GranPiemonte 2023

Andrea Bagioli of Soudal Quick-Step emerged as the winner of the 107th GranPiemonte presented by Crédit Agricole. The 152km race from Borgofranco d’Ivrea to Favria saw Bagioli take first place, followed by Marc Hirschi of UAE Team Emirates in second and Alex Aranburu Deba of Movistar Team in third. Guillaume Martin of Cofidis finished just off the podium, while Filippo Ganna of Ineos Grenadiers won the sprint of the chasing group.

Bagioli expressed his surprise and delight at the victory, stating, “I didn’t exactly expect to win but I knew I was coming with good form so we rode as a team with the win in mind. My team-mates did a good job bringing the breakaway back. I’m leaving the team so it’s great to finish with a win at the end of the season here in my country.” With Bagioli leaving Soudal Quick-Step, his win at GranPiemonte serves as a fitting finale to his time with the team.
