Veenhoven sprints to fourth place in La Choralis Fourmies Féminine

# Nienke Veenhoven Secures Fourth Place at La Choralis Fourmies Féminine

In a dynamic display of cycling prowess, Nienke Veenhoven of Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women finished fourth in the sixth edition of the La Choralis Fourmies Féminine, held in northern France. The race, which spanned 123 kilometres on a predominantly flat course, saw competitors battle from the very outset.

The peloton started with aggressive racing tactics, as numerous riders attempted to break away. However, none of the initial moves stuck, and the race unfolded similarly to past editions, culminating in a tightly contested bunch sprint. Veenhoven’s team members, Imogen Wolff and Fem van Empel, played crucial roles in ensuring she was positioned well ahead of the final stretch. Despite their efforts, Veenhoven found herself trailing three other riders as they approached the finish line, with the victory claimed by Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx – Protime.

Reflecting on the race, Veenhoven noted, “It was an aggressive race, but as a team we were always well positioned. We reacted sharply to the accelerations, which allowed us to keep the race under control. In the finale, the girls did an excellent job keeping me at the front. In the final kilometre I unfortunately made a small mistake, which meant I had to launch my sprint a little later. In the end I came close to the podium, but I can certainly be satisfied with fourth place.”

The final standings saw Lara Gillespie from UAE Team ADQ and Gladys Verhulst-Wild from AG Insurance – Soudal Team taking second and third place, respectively, while Veenhoven’s commendable effort secured her the fourth spot, just shy of the podium.

Overall, Veenhoven’s performance at La Choralis Fourmies Féminine underscores her potential and preparation as she looks ahead to future competitions.
