Schachmann Withdraws from Road World Championships, Steimle Steps Up

Glasgow (rad-net) – Maximilian Schachmann will not be competing in the road race at the World Championships in Glasgow on Sunday, leaving the German men’s national team without one of their key riders. Schachmann cited his current form as the reason for his withdrawal.

In a statement, Schachmann expressed his disappointment, saying, “I was highly motivated and very much looking forward to this world championship. Unfortunately, I had to realize in the last few days that my form is not optimal. That’s why I made way for a rider who can support the team better than I can at the moment.”

The team, while regretting Schachmann’s absence, understands his decision and appreciates his honesty. They have rearranged the lineup and included Jannik Steimle, who was already nominated for the team relay, to fill in for Schachmann.

BDR Vice President Marcus Burghardt commented on the change, saying, “We regret Max Schachmann’s cancellation, of course, but appreciate his honesty and are sure that with Jannik Steimle we have included a rider in the line-up who will be highly motivated and put all his energy into making this World Championship successful for the entire team.”

Steimle, who is eager to contribute to the team, stated, “I’m happy to be part of the team, things have been going steadily uphill for me in recent weeks, I will support the team as best I can.”

The German men’s national team will now rely on Steimle’s talent and determination as they aim for success in the upcoming road race at the World Championships.
