Tulett ends strong spring campaign with podium in Eschborn-Frankfurt
# Ben Tulett Secures Podium Finish in Eschborn-Frankfurt
In a thrilling conclusion to the spring racing season, Ben Tulett of Team Visma | Lease a Bike claimed a podium spot in the prestigious 63rd edition of the Eschborn-Frankfurt race. The event commenced with an early breakaway of four riders, who initially carved out a significant lead over the undulating course. However, their advantage was diligently monitored by a vigilant peloton, ensuring they would not contest the victory.
The race took a decisive turn on the challenging Mammolshain climb, where Tulett showcased his robust form. His efforts played a crucial role in whittling down the lead group to just twelve riders as they surged toward the finale in Frankfurt. Despite his strong positioning, Tulett narrowly missed out on clinching victory in the final sprint.
Reflecting on his performance, Tulett commented, “I look back on today’s race with a very good feeling. The plan was to race aggressively, and as a team, we executed that well. On the final ascent of the Mammolshain, Baudin and I went clear, but it wasn’t the right move to continue just the two of us. In the group that formed afterward, the cooperation was good, and I’m happy I could contest a strong sprint.”
The 24-year-old rider’s achievement marks his second podium of the spring, following a third-place finish at La Flèche Wallonne. He expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I look back on the past weeks with a positive feeling. After my crash in the Tour of the Basque Country, I wasn’t sure where I would stand in the classics. That I’ve ended up on the podium twice in two big races means a lot to me.”
The race concluded with Georg Zimmermann of Lotto Intermarché taking the top spot, finishing in 04:59:34, followed closely by Tom Pidcock of the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team in second place. Tulett’s performance solidified his reputation as a formidable contender in the cycling circuit as he gears up for future competitions.
Below are the final results for the top three positions of the Eschborn-Frankfurt race:
