Koen Bouwman finishes sixth in time trial at Tour de Luxembourg

Koen Bouwman of Jumbo-Visma finished in a strong sixth place in the individual time trial at the Tour de Luxembourg. The stage covered a distance of around 24 kilometers in the streets of Pétange. Bouwman’s sports director, Maarten Wynants, praised Bouwman’s performance, saying, “Koen rode a flawless time trial… He can be satisfied with his performance.”

However, teammate Tiesj Benoot faced difficulties during the time trial and finished 33rd. Wynants added, “With Tiesj, we had hoped for a bit more, but a bad day can happen.”

Despite the challenges, Bouwman moved up to seventh place in the general classification after the penultimate stage, just forty seconds behind the leader, Marc Hirschi. Wynants expressed optimism about the team’s prospects in the final stage, saying, “There are still a lot of possibilities as far as the general classification is concerned… I expect an open battle on the final day. That should present opportunities for us.”

Overall, the Tour de Luxembourg has been a strong showing for Jumbo-Visma, with four riders in the top six of the general classification. The team will be looking to capitalize on these results in the final stage.
