Corbin Strong Secures Third Place in Volta a Catalunya Sprint
Israel – Premier Tech’s Corbin Strong proved his sprinting prowess by clinching third place on stage 4 of Volta a Catalunya. After the race, Strong expressed his delight and commended his teammates, saying, “I’m really happy with today. The boys did an awesome job.”
To ensure a favorable outcome, the IPT riders were vigilant from the start, ensuring no breakaway groups posed a threat. Their efforts were concentrated on supporting team leader Michael Woods and creating an opportunity for Strong to sprint for the win.
In the final kilometers of the race, Daryl Impey led the peloton with Guilluame Boivin and Strong closely behind. Boivin executed an excellent leadout for Strong, who launched his sprint with approximately 150 meters remaining. Despite his valiant effort, Kaden Groves claimed the victory while Strong had to settle for third place.
Reflecting on the race, Strong acknowledged his team’s strong performance, stating, “There were a few corners in the final but the boys rode awesomely. G [Boivin] did a really good leadout for me at the end but unfortunately, I didn’t have the legs to finish it off. However, I’m still really happy with third.”
In the general classification, Woods rose to sixth place overall ahead of Friday’s challenging mountain top finish.
