Team dsm-firmenich’s Tobias Lund Andresen Takes 4th Place in Tour of Guangxi
Team dsm-firmenich had an impressive performance in the third stage of the Tour of Guangxi, with rider Tobias Lund Andresen finishing in 4th place. The predominantly flat stage featured challenging punchy climbs, but Lund Andresen powered through and secured a solid result for the team.
The stage started in Nanning and offered a relatively straightforward route for the peloton. However, there were several attacks early on, followed by a breakaway group of six riders establishing a comfortable lead. The team, led by Patrick Bevin and Niklas Märkl, contributed to the chase in the closing kilometers, keeping the gap close.
As the final lap approached, the peloton faced the last punchy climb of the day. Lund Andresen’s teammates, Oscar Onley and Jonas Iversby Hvideberg, did a fantastic job positioning him at the front. Lund Andresen took advantage of this positioning, launching his sprint and crossing the finish line in an impressive 4th place.
Reflecting on the stage, Lund Andresen said, “Because of the tough climbs, everyone was excited for today’s stage… I fought as hard as I could to come over the top but was dropped in a group with Kooij. Luckily, I had Jonas with me and with five kilometers to go we were back in the reduced peloton. Oscar and Jonas then helped me to get to the front after which I had to go on my own.”
Despite facing a crash in the final moments of the race, Lund Andresen remained satisfied with his performance. He acknowledged that there are still opportunities for the team in the upcoming stages, particularly with Oscar Onley, who is expected to excel in the mountaintop finish and two sprint stages that conclude the campaign in China.
The next stage promises to be one for the general classification, with a challenging parcours finishing atop the Nongla. Team dsm-firmenich will undoubtedly continue their strong performance and aim for even better results in the remaining stages of the Tour of Guangxi.
