In a rain-soaked race at the GP Monseré, Jarne Van de Paar of [Lotto Dstny] emerged victorious in a thrilling mass sprint. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Van de Paar showcased his strength and determination, taking advantage of his good form to secure the win.
“Coming straight from the UAE Tour, this was quite a shock,” expressed Van de Paar. I saw everyone around me shivering from the cold, but I managed to keep myself warm all day.”
With the peloton tackling climbs and cobbles throughout the race, Van de Paar highlighted the team’s strategic approach, stating, “As a team, we managed to stay attentive throughout the race. We positioned ourselves well and stayed focused at the front, especially towards the climbs.”
The race concluded with a mass sprint, where Van de Paar’s sprinting prowess and the strong teamwork played a crucial role. Reflecting on the victory, he shared, “I couldn’t have asked for a better lead-out. It’s a shame that Jacopo Guarnieri had gear problems. Joshua Giddings and Lionel Taminiaux did excellent work. I am extremely happy with this victory.”
While celebrating the triumph, there were also somber moments as Milan Menten suffered an unfortunate incident during the race, colliding with a tree and momentarily losing consciousness. However, after being taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a minor concussion, further examinations revealed no fractures.
