Romain Grégoire Impresses with Top-10 Finish in Tirreno-Adriatico Opening Time Trial
In the opening time trial of Tirreno-Adriatico, Romain Grégoire showcased his talent by securing a tenth-place finish, just twenty-two seconds behind the stage winner Juan Ayuso. This achievement marks Grégoire’s first top-10 performance in a time trial at the WorldTour level, setting a positive tone for the upcoming stages of the race.
The course of the time trial, spanning a distance of ten kilometers, favored pure time trialists, yet Grégoire, known for his versatility, rose to the challenge. Despite the changes in the route compared to previous editions, Grégoire managed to excel, demonstrating his strength against the clock. Team coach Nicolas Boisson commented on the challenging course, stating, “The second part was really very long with a front wind, which really favoured the strong men. Romain being in good condition, it helped him achieve a very good result.”
Grégoire himself expressed confidence following his performance, stating, “It was my first time trial of the season, and I felt pretty good. This gives a good time trial in the end! It’s super satisfying and it gives confidence for the whole week, whether for the team or me personally.” Boisson further praised Grégoire’s achievement, emphasizing the significance of a top-10 finish in a WorldTour event for a young rider.
Despite facing tough competition and challenging conditions, Grégoire’s impressive showing in the opening time trial sets the stage for an exciting week ahead at Tirreno-Adriatico. With ambitions of stage victories and a strong overall performance, Grégoire and his team are poised for further success in the remaining stages of the race.
