ProTeam Arnaud De Lie wins fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie with an impressive sprint

# Arnaud De Lie Triumphs in Tour de Wallonie’s Fourth Stage with a Dazzling Sprint

In a thrilling fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie, Arnaud De Lie showcased his incredible sprinting ability, clinching victory as the peloton faced numerous climbs and an uphill finish. The high-paced race quickly began to take its toll, thinning out the group considerably. De Lie acknowledged the challenge, stating, “I knew it would be difficult to fight for the win. Even on the first passage over the finish line, the pace was extremely high. Thanks to the work of my teammates, I was always well positioned.”

As the race approached its climax, attackers like Riley Sheehan and general classification leader Laurence Pithie seemed poised for victory, especially with Sheehan gaining a notable advantage at the onset of the uphill finishing straight. However, De Lie had other plans. “I didn’t hesitate for a second to accelerate at the bottom of the climb,” he remarked, referring to the moment he made his decisive move. “I carried a lot of speed into it and managed to surprise the rest of the group. The final 150 metres were incredibly hard. I wanted to push even harder on the pedals, but there was simply nothing left. In the end, it was just enough to take the win.”

Demonstrating unwavering confidence in his abilities, De Lie continued, “I was mainly focused on my own effort. I know I’m very strong in efforts lasting close to a minute. Once I saw that I was closing the gap quickly, I just gave absolutely everything until the finish line. Of course, you think about the victory, but my main focus was on producing the best sprint possible.”

The win marked a significant turn of fortune for Lotto-Intermarché, which had encountered a streak of bad luck earlier in the competition. De Lie expressed the boost in morale this victory provided, asserting, “This victory gives us a huge amount of confidence. During the first few days, things didn’t always go our way, but today everything finally fell into place. It was really great to race together with the team under these circumstances.”

As the cyclists gear up for the final stage from Bassegne to Aubel, De Lie finds himself in a desirable position, currently third in the general classification, trailing race leader Riley Sheehan by a mere three seconds. With the momentum on their side, the team is eager to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
