Bahrain Victorious Prepares for Challenging Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France
Bahrain Victorious is gearing up for the 92nd edition of the Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France, set to take place in Plouay on Sunday. The race, renowned for its hilly terrain, promises to be a challenging fixture for the team.
The parcours of the Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France varies each year but always presents a demanding course. The region’s narrow roads, short but explosive climbs, and twisting descents make it a testing race for the peloton. With a distance of approximately 260km, the race is comparable to the Ardennes classics, making it suitable for classic specialists.
TBV Sports Director Michal Golas emphasized the difficulty of the race, stating, “It’s a proper elimination race, and the legs will make the difference at the end.” With 38 climbs over 500m and a total of 4200m of climbing, endurance and energy management will be crucial. The team will rely on Jack Haig as their leader, but they also have other cards to play with riders like Andrea Pasqualon and Nikias Arndt.
Golas outlined the team’s goal for the race, stating, “Our goal for this edition is the top 5.” Haig, who has previously finished third in this race, is expected to be a key contender. Golas also highlighted the versatility of Pasqualon and the skills of Arndt, who can adapt their race strategies to support the team’s objectives.
The course features an 800m gravel sector on the ascent of Le Helles, adding an additional challenge to the race. In the last 60km, there will be no time for recovery, setting the stage for a decisive finale. The finishing circuit, containing three explosive ascents, will likely play a pivotal role in selecting the winner.
With their sights set on a strong performance, Bahrain Victorious aims to create a situation where their team has numerical advantage in the final stages of the race. The team’s commitment, strategic planning, and support from riders like Edoardo Zambanini, Rainer Kepplinger, Johan Price-Pejtersen, and Jonathan Milan will be instrumental in their pursuit of victory.
