Team Visma | Lease a Bike Riders Look Forward to European Start in Spain and Portugal
With upcoming races in Spain and Portugal, Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s top cyclists, Wout van Aert and Sepp Kuss, share their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the start of their racing season.
Van Aert and Kuss, along with their team, are gearing up for key races including the Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia, the Clásica de Almería, Clásica Jaén, and the Volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta.
Kuss, winner of the recent Vuelta a España, expressed his anticipation, “I’m looking forward to starting the season…After a long time without racing, you wait for the moment when you can pin on a bib again. That moment has come.”
Meanwhile, Van Aert and the team are eyeing specific goals for the upcoming races. Van Aert stated, “I see the upcoming races mainly as preparation for my first big goals of the year. I already have a couple of cross-country races in my legs, giving me a good feeling. Now, I hope to keep that feeling on the road.”
Van Aert further added, “I don’t have any ambitions for the GC [General Classification]. Above all, I hope to return home with good legs and experiences.”
The team’s manager, Arthur van Dongen, also weighed in saying, “These races will certainly help…We will aim for stage wins in the Algarve, where getting a good feeling and fine-tuning the team’s pleasant cooperation are the main goals in the prelude to spring.”
With these insights, it’s clear that Van Aert and Kuss are focused on building momentum and form for the season ahead, using the races in Spain and Portugal as crucial stepping stones towards their larger targets.
