Belgian cyclist Victor Campenaerts, a member of ProTeam, will be unable to participate in the upcoming Classics after sustaining injuries in a crash during the Bredene Koksijde Classic race.
The unfortunate incident occurred during the race, forcing Campenaerts to withdraw from competing in the Classics. The cyclist’s injuries were significant enough to require a break from racing and recovery period.
ProTeam, the team Campenaerts rides for, expressed their disappointment over the situation. They issued a statement saying, “We are saddened by the news of Victor’s crash and his subsequent withdrawal from the Classics. He is a valuable member of our team, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
The Classics are a series of prestigious one-day cycling races held in Belgium and other countries. They are known for their challenging terrains and demand exceptional skill and endurance from the riders. Campenaerts’ absence in the Classics will undoubtedly be felt by ProTeam.
Campenaerts himself expressed his disappointment and frustration over the crash, stating, “It’s a huge blow to miss out on the Classics after all the hard work and preparation. I was looking forward to the challenges these races bring, but I understand the importance of prioritizing my recovery at this time.”
The extent of Campenaerts’ injuries and the estimated duration of his recovery are yet to be determined. ProTeam will continue to support him during his rehabilitation process, ensuring that he receives the best medical care and support to return to racing as soon as possible.
Until then, the team will rearrange their plans and seek alternative strategies to make up for Campenaerts’ absence in the Classics. They will also focus on supporting their remaining riders to achieve their best performances in these highly anticipated races.
