Primoz Roglic Wins Third Giro dell’Emilia Race

“After winning the race, Roglic expressed his love for the Giro dell’Emilia, stating ‘It’s a fantastic feeling to win here again. I love this race so much. The climbs of San Luca and the rich history make this race iconic. I enjoyed it. The support from the fans was great.'”

The race started in Carpi and saw a select group of favorites, including Roglic, head towards the final climb to San Luca. In the last kilometer, Roglic accelerated and secured his third victory in the Italian semi-classic. Reflecting on the race, Roglic said, “The final was very tough. Every climb in San Luca is painful. So you have to be able to suffer to win here. When I felt I had good legs, I decided to go flat out in the last kilometer. I am happy that I was able to finish it off.”

Before the start of the race, Roglic announced that he will be leaving Team Jumbo-Visma at the end of the season. Managing Director Richard Plugge expressed his admiration for Roglic, saying, “Primoz will always be in my heart as our king. We are very grateful to him for finding the way to the top together. I will always admire him on a personal level.” Roglic’s departure comes after his request for a transfer, which the team respected.

This victory marks Roglic’s 15th win of the season and his 80th professional victory. The Jumbo-Visma team has now won a total of 63 races this year.
