Tobias Lund Andresen sprints to 5th place in Ozalj

In a fast and action-packed finale, Tobias Lund Andresen of Team dsm-firmenich secured a fifth-place finish in the town of Ozalj. The penultimate day of racing saw a challenging uphill stretch, where Team dsm-firmenich put in a strong performance, getting five riders into the reduced peloton.

Lund Andresen recounted the race, saying, “Today started with a climb, where we all had to go all out to make it over the top. We still had five guys in a 40-man group with all the other top sprinters dropped. Kristoff came back fast and after that, the pace went completely out of the group, so everyone else came back. Oscar was then really strong pulling to close down the break.”

Despite facing some setbacks, including being caught out too far behind in the final moments of the race, Lund Andresen gave it his all and managed to hold on for a solid fifth place. Reflecting on his performance, he stated, “After the last corner, I opened up a long sprint, but had to use too much energy beforehand and ended up in fifth.”

Team dsm-firmenich coach Joey van Rhee acknowledged the mistakes made during the race but remained optimistic. “We will have a good look at the finish today and then work hard tomorrow to fix the things that weren’t so good, and we’re all motivated to end the week here on a high.”

With one more opportunity to showcase their skills on Sunday, Team dsm-firmenich aims to finish the week on a positive note.
