Spanish Champion Mavi Garcia to Spearhead Liv AlUla Jayco GC Ambitions at UAE Tour
Liv AlUla Jayco has set its sights on the upcoming UAE Tour. The team, led by Spanish champion Mavi Garcia, is aiming for both stage wins and success in the general classification. Garcia, a former podium finisher at the Giro d’Italia, will be making her debut at the race, having joined the team during the winter.
The UAE Tour is scheduled to take place over four days, from February 8th to 11th, and poses varied challenges, with three sprint stages and the decisive ascent of Jebel Hafeet on stage 3. The team is banking on its strong lineup, including Georgia Baker and Letizia Paternoster who have been in good form, to navigate the crosswinds and claim victories.
Garcia, sharing her excitement, stated, “I’m really looking forward to this year and making my start with Liv AlUla Jayco! It will be different from the previous ones as it is also my first time on the UAE Tour. As I’ve developed as a rider I feel better on all types of terrain, and I think that I have a chance to do well in the general classification.”
Shawn Clarke, the Sport Director for Liv AlUla Jayco, expressed confidence in the team’s potential, noting, “We’ve got a really strong team for this race with some big engines like Jeanne Korevaar, Silke Smulders, and Teniel Campbell, who can ride really well in difficult conditions like crosswinds. Mavi will be our leader for the general classification.”
The team is gearing up for an exciting and challenging race, with a strong package and good options for all outcomes. Overall, Liv AlUla Jayco is poised to make a bold statement at the UAE Tour, as it looks to secure victories and aim for success in the general classification.
