Jonathan Milan Clinches Stage 2 Victory at Tour of Guangxi

After narrowly missing out on a win in the opening stage, Jonathan Milan of Bahrain-Victorious secured a well-deserved victory on Stage 2 at the Tour of Guangxi. Milan outpaced his competitors and crossed the finish line ahead of Arvid de Kleijn from Tudor Pro Cycling by a bike length. The win not only propelled Milan into the lead in the general classification by a margin of 4 seconds, but he also leads in the points and best young rider classification.

Milan’s triumph was made possible by the exceptional teamwork of his teammates, Cameron Scott and Dusan Rajovic. Expressing his gratitude, Milan said, “I want to thank my teammates; they helped me and supported me a lot. In the end, they really brought me to the perfect position for sprinters as much as possible. I did my sprint, and things went perfectly. I am really happy, and now we enjoy it.”

When asked about his motivation, Milan emphasized his desire to contribute to the success of his team, stating, “A race is a race. It’s always nice to win for me and for the team. I am looking forward to bringing something to the team again for this season, so it’s important.”

Gorazd Štangelj, the head of sports director, commended Milan’s performance, saying, “Jonathan showed once again his big talent. He won perfectly in the right timing, which was really good.”

As the team looks ahead to the upcoming stages of the race, Štangelj stressed the need for a good plan, particularly for the next challenging stage. Reflecting on the success so far, he remarked, “So far we won a stage, we need to be happy and we will see tomorrow.”

With his impressive victory in Stage 2, Jonathan Milan has firmly established himself as a contender at the Tour of Guangxi, and his Bahrain-Victorious team is eager to continue their strong performance in the remaining stages of the race.
