Jasper Philipsen Claims Title of King of Victories 2023 in Professional Road Cycling

Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen has secured the title of King of Victories 2023 in professional road cycling with his third stage win in the 58th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye in Marmaris. Philipsen beat his compatriot Timothy Dupont and Italy’s Giovanni Lonardi in a bunch gallop to claim the title.

During the post-race press conference, Philipsen expressed his admiration for Marmaris, stating, “It’s a beautiful place, I was impressed when I first came. It’s not only the last hill that makes the race hard before the sprint here. The whole stage today was made hard by the riders.”

The race saw several attacks by riders throughout the day, including a solo ride by Nico Denz of Bora-Hansgrohe. However, Philipsen’s teammate Xandro Meurisse provided support in the finale, helping Philipsen secure the win.

Philipsen also expressed his goals for the future, stating, “I reached most of my goals and I can look back to a successful season. 18 is a great number. Maybe 20 is at the back of my mind but let’s see what the next day brings.”

Looking ahead, Philipsen has his sights set on becoming the most successful sprinter in the Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye and surpassing the current record of 11 stage wins held by André Greipel and Mark Cavendish.

With this latest victory, Jasper Philipsen further solidifies his position as one of the top sprinters in professional road cycling and earns the well-deserved title of King of Victories 2023.
