Astana-Qazaqstan Team Reveals Racing Program for Team Leaders
At the first 2022 preseason training camp in Altea, Spain, the Astana-Qazaqstan Team has announced the provisional racing program for its team leaders.
According to the team’s announcement, the Astana-Qazaqstan Team leaders will kick off their 2022 season in Europe, specifically in Spain or Portugal.
The team’s star cyclists – Miguel Angel Lopez, Vincenzo Nibali, David De La Cruz, Alexey Lutsenko, and Gianni Moscon – will participate in various races throughout the year.
For instance, Alexey Lutsenko will start his season with Jaen Paraiso Interior and Vuelta a Andalucia, and then focus on the cobbled classics and the Ardennes classics. His main goal for the season is the Tour de France.
Vincenzo Nibali will wear the Astana-Qazaqstan jersey again at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. His schedule includes Tirreno – Adriatico, Milano – Sanremo, Tour of the Alps, and potentially the Tour de France.
Miguel Angel Lopez will aim to lead the team at the Giro d’Italia, with the possibility of also participating in the Tour de France.
Gianni Moscon, on the other hand, will focus on the Northern Classics. He will start his season at Volta ao Algarve and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Elit, and then shift his focus to the cobbles and the Ardennes classics. Moscon’s main Grand Tour for the season will be the Tour de France.
Davide De La Cruz will start the new season at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, followed by the UAE Tour and Paris – Nice. He will support the team leader at the Giro d’Italia and take on the leading role at the Vuelta a España.
