# Caleb Ewan Extends Contract with Lotto Soudal Until 2024
In a significant move for Lotto Soudal, Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan has officially extended his contract for an additional two years, ensuring that he will remain with the team until at least the end of 2024. The 27-year-old, who still had time left on his current contract until the end of 2022, has made a notable impact on the team, securing 22 victories, including five Tour de France stage wins and a celebrated victory on the Champs-Élysées.
Ewan expressed his enthusiasm about the extension, stating, *“I feel very much at home at Lotto Soudal, it is a team I am proud to represent and together we have achieved some wonderful results but I am committed to ensuring this is only the beginning, we have some exciting times ahead.”* He added his excitement about collaborating with his sprint train, which includes Jasper De Buyst, Roger Kluge, Harry Sweeny, and Frederik Frison, saying, *“I believe we have much improvement within us and I am really looking forward to working with our sprint train.”*
In addition to Ewan’s extension, the team has also welcomed veteran rider Rüdiger Selig, who signed a two-year agreement. The 32-year-old German brings considerable experience from his roles as a lead-out man for top sprinters like Alexander Kristoff and Peter Sagan. Selig shared his admiration for Ewan, stating, *“In my opinion, Caleb Ewan is the fastest sprinter in the world… I already can’t wait!”*
Lotto Soudal’s General Manager John Lelangue reflected on the future of the team, saying, *“Top-level sport is about winning and losing, with peaks and throughs, but in my opinion, our future really does look bright.”* He highlighted the team’s commitment to developing young talent, citing recent successes by 19-year-old rider Arnaud De Lie, who has notched two UCI victories. Lelangue also noted the continuing role of Philippe Gilbert as a mentor for younger riders, emphasizing his invaluable experience in the peloton.
Looking ahead, Lelangue confirmed that additional news regarding new riders and contract extensions will be announced in the coming weeks. He expressed gratitude to departing team figures Herman Frison and Marc Sergeant, stating, *“Both were and still are the faces of the team… A big thank you for all of this, Herman and Marc.”*
As Lotto Soudal fortifies its team, the next few years promise to be exciting for both Ewan and the organization as they aim for continued success in the competitive world of cycling.
