Juan Ayuso Reflects on Demanding Day in Stage 19: “It Turned Out to be a Demanding Day”

In an interview following stage 19 of the race, young cyclist Juan Ayuso described the day as demanding and challenging. Ayuso expressed how the fast pace of the stage required him to push hard to keep up with the peloton, causing fatigue in his legs. However, he was grateful to have avoided any crashes and safely completed the stage.

“It was a bit too fast! We had to suffer a bit, even on the wheels we had to push really hard to keep up with the pace,” Ayuso said. “And also, being stage 19, the legs hurt even if you ride easy. It was a hard day, a very fast one. I’m glad I avoided the crash and arrived home safely.”

The relentless pace throughout the day took a toll on Ayuso and his fellow competitors, and he shared that many of them had expected to have a chance to recover. However, the high tempo maintained throughout the stage made it a challenging day for all riders.

“I think many of us thought we would recover a bit more today, but in the end, it turned out to be a demanding day because the pace was super high all day,” Ayuso explained. “It was not the best to recover, but it’s the same for everybody.”

Looking ahead to the next stage, Ayuso remained optimistic and hoped for a successful performance. He recognized that the upcoming stage would be the last major push of the season and expressed his desire to compete for a stage win.

“Tomorrow is gonna be the last big push of the season, and I hope it goes well, and maybe we can go for the stage win,” Ayuso concluded.
