Israel – Premier Tech Brings a Diverse Team to Play at the Giro d’Italia

Israel – Premier Tech is gearing up for the Giro d’Italia with a team that boasts a mix of youth and experience as they strive for success in the first Grand Tour of the season. The team will be debuting their special edition jersey, which celebrates Fantini Wines and the Grande Partenza in their home region of Abruzzo. Sports Director Oscar Guerrero explains the team’s goals, stating, “We are not going with a team experienced in supporting a GC leader but we will share the responsibilities between the riders and hopefully Domenico can get a top-ten on GC which he did last year. Of course, fighting for a stage win in the mountains can be another goal for him.” The team will rely on the expertise of riders like Simon Clarke, who will take on the road captain role. Clarke expresses his excitement for returning to the race after a two-year break and highlights the team’s strong climbers, saying, “We have some good climbers in the team with Pozzovivo and Riccitello and a few of the other young guys so it should be a good Giro for us.” With three neo pros and a generally youthful lineup, IPT is bringing one of its youngest-ever rosters to the Grand Tour. Guerrero emphasizes the importance of the learning experience for the young riders and their ability to support team leader Domenico Pozzovivo, saying, “This is a learning experience and the first Grand Tour for half of them so we need to be smart with selecting good opportunities and also days where they can rest and save their legs for the final week to help Domenico as much as possible.” With a diverse team and multiple cards to play, Israel – Premier Tech is ready for the challenges ahead at the Giro d’Italia.
