BORA-hansgrohe Aims for Stage Win as Dominant Jumbo-Visma Continues to Dominate Tour of Britain
After four stages, BORA-hansgrohe is still waiting for a stage win at this year’s Tour of Britain. Sports Director Jens Zemke remains optimistic and hopeful for a turnaround in the upcoming days.
BORA-hansgrohe has had a strong performance thus far, with two second places, one third, and six top ten finishes. However, they have been unable to secure a stage win, with Dutch sprinter Olav Kooij of Team Jumbo-Visma dominating and winning all four stages so far.
Despite the dominance of Jumbo-Visma, Zemke sees potential for improvement in the remaining stages: “Of course, Jumbo-Visma is absolutely dominant here. Nevertheless, we had a good chance on three of the four stages so far,” he says.
With meetings held daily, BORA-hansgrohe is working on changing tactics in hopes of securing a stage win and surprising Jumbo-Visma. Zemke emphasizes their determination to keep trying.
Looking ahead, Zemke predicts more bunch sprints in the fifth and sixth day of the Tour of Britain. However, he also anticipates an open battle for the overall classification in the hilly final weekend. Zemke believes that BORA-hansgrohe has a chance, especially with rider Nils Politt in good shape and leading their classification efforts.
BORA-hansgrohe continues to strive for success and remains hopeful for a stage win in the remaining days of the Tour of Britain.
