Milan Vader Shows His Strength at Santos Tour Down Under

The second stage of the Santos Tour Down Under presented a challenging route with more than 2800 meters of climbing. The highlight was the intense climb at Fox Creek, which needed to be conquered three times. Despite the tough terrain, the race did not turn into a major battle for the general classification contenders.

“Milan felt good and went up with the best on the last climb. He kept his legs still when he realized there was nothing to gain. He made a good assessment,” said sports director Addy Engels, reflecting on Vader’s performance.

Engels also emphasized the strategic approach, stating, “These are not the days where we can win or make a difference. All we can do is make sure we don’t lose and stay where we are.” Looking ahead, he added, “The next two stages will probably end up in a bunch sprint. The weekend will decide the classification.”

In the race, Vader demonstrated his strength, finishing 20th in the sprint of the reduced peloton. Despite not being able to make a significant move, it showcased his solid performance in the challenging stage. The competition, primarily characterized by the uphill battle, sets the stage for the upcoming stages that could potentially favor sprinters.

The Santos Tour Down Under continues to unfold, with the weekend serving as a determinant for the overall classification. With riders like Vader demonstrating their prowess, the competition is set to intensify as it progresses further.
