Bahrain Victorious Head To Eschborn–Frankfurt

# Bahrain Victorious Gears Up for Challenging Eschborn–Frankfurt

Bahrain Victorious is set to tackle the demanding Eschborn–Frankfurt race on May 1, fielding a team that is well-equipped for a route that has become notably selective in recent years. Covering a grueling 211 kilometers with over 3,300 meters of climbing, this year’s edition promises to test the limits of the riders like never before.

Starting in Eschborn, the race takes competitors into the Taunus region, where a series of climbs will be pivotal in determining the outcome before they head back to Frankfurt for the finish. A crucial section of the day includes the Feldberg, scaled twice from its steeper side, followed by the Mammolshain, which has often been critical in deciding the final contenders. This year, the new addition of the steep Burgweg climb increases the challenge, making it highly likely that only a select few will remain in contention as they approach the final kilometers.

Aart Vierhouten, the team’s Sports Director, commented on the race’s demanding nature: “It’s the last race of this block after the Ardennes, and it’s a demanding one. The course is harder again this year. We have a strong group for this kind of race, and the key will be to be in the right moves as things start to open up. With the run-in after the last climb, positioning will be important heading into the final.”

Leading the team will be Pello Bilbao, who is joined by Edoardo Zambanini and Pau Miquel as potential sprinters if a reduced group reaches the finish line. Afonso Eulálio and Rainer Kepplinger will aim to intensify the competition in the climbs, while Mathijs Paasschens and Jakob Omrzel provide additional support throughout the race.

Bilbao expressed his eagerness to participate, noting, “In my final season, and having raced most of the WorldTour calendar over the years, this is one of the races I was still missing, so it’s something special to be here for the first time. It’s a race that suits me well, especially with how the course has evolved over the years. We have riders who can make it selective, and at the same time we still have the speed to be competitive if it comes down to a smaller group. It’s the last race of this block before a short break ahead of the Tour. The condition is good, motivation is high, and we’re coming here ready to fight for a strong result.”

With the stakes high and the terrain challenging, all eyes will be on Bahrain Victorious as they aim to conquer Eschborn–Frankfurt.
