Arnaud Démare Reflects on 5th Place Finish in Lagos

Arnaud Démare expressed his frustration after finishing 5th in Lagos, citing the efforts of his team and addressing the missed opportunities. In a statement, he said, “This sprint leaves me with a feeling of frustration. The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team did a superb job. We implemented on the ground what had been set out in the briefing this morning. I’d like to thank everyone, Martin Tjøtta held his ground, Thibault Guernalec put us back on track when we needed it, and then Jenthe Biermans, who put in a big performance on the last climb. Donavan was also very strong in the run-up to the sprint. In the final, Dan couldn’t keep up with us, and we obviously missed him for the money-time. Florian and I lacked communication. I had the strength, but I couldn’t express myself the way I wanted to. Beautiful things are being done, applied and there’s commitment from everyone, and, frankly, we deserve much better…” Démare’s comments reflect both the team’s cohesion and the missed opportunities that contributed to their 5th place finish in Lagos.
