Kazakh specialist Alexandr Shefer will be rejoining the Astana Qazaqstan Team as the Lead Sports Director for the upcoming 2022 season. Shefer, who has an impressive track record with the team, spent the previous season working with the Russian UCI ProTeam Gazprom – Rusvelo. However, the two teams have reached an agreement for his return to Astana Qazaqstan Team.
In an interview, Shefer expressed his excitement about returning to the team, saying, “I am really happy to reunite with Astana Qazaqstan Team after a year outside the project. I feel myself full of energy and inspiration ahead of the new season.” He also expressed gratitude to Gazprom – Rusvelo for the experience gained and their understanding and flexibility in allowing him to return to Astana Qazaqstan Team.
The General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team, Alexandr Vinokurov, welcomed Shefer’s return, stating, “I am happy to see Alexandr, one of the key directors for Astana, coming back. The preparation towards the new season is in full progress and a lot of work is going to be done for the team to get ready for the new challenges and goals. I am sure that the arrival of Alexandr Shefer will strengthen our Sports Director group and help the team return to the winning ways.”
With Shefer’s return, the team is optimistic about the upcoming season and the new goals they will set. The team aims to work together with Shefer and utilize his expertise and experience to bring success to the Astana Qazaqstan Team.
