Corbin Strong Rises to Fifth Place in Tour Down Under General Classification

Corbin Strong showcased stellar teamwork on stage 2 of the Tour Down Under, securing an eighth-place finish and moving up to fifth place on the General Classification. The peloton split due to crosswinds, but Strong’s team’s positioning allowed him to stay in the front group and win the second intermediate sprint, earning three bonus seconds. Strong praised his team, saying, “It’s a good thing we had such a strong team today and the boys rode out of their skin to keep me in the best position possible all day.”

The final climb of the day, Nettle Hill, proved to be a challenge, but with the help of teammates Derek Gee and Sebastian Berwick, Strong minimized his time loss. Ultimately, Rohan Dennis claimed the victory, while Strong finished eighth from the remaining bunch, 11 seconds behind. With consecutive days of bonus seconds, Strong now sits in fifth place on the General Classification, trailing the new race leader Dennis by 14 seconds.

Looking ahead, Strong remains focused and takes each day as it comes, preparing for the upcoming test on the Corkscrew climb. He believes that the dynamic nature of the race will continue to surprise, but with their strong performance, Strong and his team are positioned to challenge for stage wins and the General Classification.
