ProTeam Huub Artz and Julie Brouwers look ahead to Paris-Roubaix
# ProTeam Prepares for the Challenge of Paris-Roubaix
As the anticipation builds for the highly awaited Paris-Roubaix, riders Huub Artz and Julie Brouwers gear up for a test of endurance and adaptability on one of cycling’s most demanding courses. Known for its brutal terrain and unpredictable conditions, this race is described not merely as a competition, but as “a battle against the terrain,” where “anything can happen.”
The men’s team is set with a formidable lineup comprising Toon Aerts, Huub Artz, Cedric Beullens, Arnaud De Lie, Joshua Giddings, Matys Grisel, and Jonas Rutsch. Their strategy revolves around maintaining cohesion throughout the race, particularly in the challenging cobbled sectors. The emphasis will be on leveraging their collective awareness to anticipate competitors’ moves and seize the right opportunities.
Reflecting on his preparation, Huub Artz expressed his excitement: *”Paris-Roubaix is the most special one day race of the year for me. It’s a race that I have been looking forward to for a very long time. After many recons, I feel prepared for the mythical cobbles. If I have a good day, I’m convinced that I will be able to make it into the finale with a select group of riders. I hope to play an important role for the team, hopefully being paid off by a nice result!”*
Meanwhile, the Intermarché-Lotto Ladies team, featuring Ilken Seynaeve, Julie Brouwers, Katrijn De Clercq, Lea Lin Teutenberg, Linda Riedmann, and Sterre Vervloet, enters the race with a fierce determination. This young squad views Paris-Roubaix as an opportunity to challenge themselves against one of the toughest courses in cycling. The focus remains on teamwork, helping one another navigate the demanding sections, and capitalizing on every opportunity presented.
Julie Brouwers, gearing up for her first race with the team, shared her enthusiasm: *”A while ago, Grace asked me if I would like to ride Paris-Roubaix. At that moment I was still enjoying some time off the bike after my cyclocross season had ended. But I didn’t hesitate a second! Maybe it’s a bit early for me, since I could only train for 4 weeks properly to prepare myself. But I am extremely motivated and eager to start the iconic Paris-Roubaix race. We’ll see what it brings but I am really looking forward to all the experience that I will gain.”*
With readiness and resilience at the core of their approach, both teams are poised to face the challenges of Paris-Roubaix head-on. As the cyclists prepare to take on the mythic cobblestones, fans eagerly await the unfolding drama of this legendary race.
