ProTeam Jacopo Guarnieri reinforces Lotto Dstny sprint train

# Jacopo Guarnieri Joins Lotto Dstny to Enhance Sprint Train

The seasoned Italian cyclist Jacopo Guarnieri, 34, is set to join Lotto Dstny’s sprint train, providing valuable support to renowned sprinters Caleb Ewan and Arnaud De Lie. Guarnieri, noted for his past victories in prestigious Belgian races such as Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde and Circuit Franco-Belge, as well as two stages in the Tour de Pologne, has signed a two-year contract with the team.

With a wealth of experience in sprint finishes, Guarnieri has transitioned from competing for victories himself to specializing in lead-out roles for elite sprinters. Reflecting on his new role, he stated, “*I was actually flattered by the interest of Lotto Dstny, which will be the name of the team from 2023 on.*” He continued, “*This is a team with a great history of sprinters and lead-out trains. The team is fully focused on winning bunch sprints, and with Caleb Ewan and Arnaud De Lie, there are two really fast guys for me to work for. I have had a good talk with Caleb Ewan already, and I am looking forward to the next two seasons.*”

The acquisition of Guarnieri is aligned with Lotto Dstny’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their sprint capabilities. “*When working with a sprint train, you always have to keep looking for improvements,*” remarked Lotto Dstny CEO John Lelangue. He emphasized the importance of enhancing the team, noting, “*With Caleb Ewan, we have one of the fastest sprinters in the peloton, but Arnaud De Lie has proven this year that he deserves to be surrounded by strong riders who know how to guide a sprinter too. Therefore, it is crucial for us to bring some extra experience and fast legs into our sprint train.*”

Guarnieri himself commented, “*A lead-out is more than just power or luck.*” He added that in previous teams, he was responsible for organizing the sprint train, underscoring the significance of team dynamics. “*A good feeling amongst all involved in the train is crucial. Of course, there are a lot of strong guys already, but I want to bring something extra to this team with my experience.*”

As Lotto Dstny gears up for another competitive season, Guarnieri’s inclusion is expected to yield promising results in upcoming races.
