Team Visma | Lease a Bike animates Coppa Bernocchi

# Visma | Lease a Bike Showcases Grit at Coppa Bernocchi

In a thrilling display of determination at the esteemed Coppa Bernocchi, Team Visma | Lease a Bike put forth a commendable performance throughout the challenging 200-kilometre course. Young talent Matthew Brennan, who has already clinched fourteen wins this season, emerged as one of the main contenders but wasn’t inclined to hold back for a potential bunch sprint.

After an early breakaway group of five was reeled in, Brennan, along with teammate Sepp Kuss, ramped up the pace during the hilly segments of the race. Their efforts culminated in the formation of a robust lead group of twelve riders, where Kuss notably sacrificed his position to support Brennan.

Despite the cooperation in the peloton, which gradually narrowed the lead, Brennan made a valiant late attempt to break free, only to find that the peloton was not willing to grant him any leeway.

Reflecting on the race, Brennan stated, “I felt good today. We stuck to our pre-race plan: to stay alert in the decisive moments, and that went well. Sepp was really strong and reacted perfectly when Michael Matthews tried to stir things up. I then waited for the right moment to bridge across.”

Brennan added, “Our group worked well together, but so did the peloton. The team tried to disrupt the chase behind, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough. It’s a pity we were caught in the end. Still, we can be proud of the effort we put in today. We gave it everything, even if we couldn’t finish it off with a win.”

In the end, Dorian Godon from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale took the victory with a time of 04:13:09, followed closely by Tobias Lund Andresen and Giovanni Lonardi, both crossing the line without any delay behind the winner.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike had notable finishes, with Bart Lemmen and Tijmen Graat placing 33rd and 36th, respectively, while Brennan finished 60th, a mere seconds behind the leaders. The team continues to demonstrate their potential and camaraderie, fostering optimism for future competitions.
