Vigié fifth after brave attack in opening stage of Simac Ladies Tour

# Vigié Shines in Opening Stage of Simac Ladies Tour Despite Near Miss

In the first stage of the Simac Ladies Tour, Margaux Vigié showcased her tenacity and skill, finishing in fifth place after a bold attempt to break away from the pack. The French cyclist, part of Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women, was instrumental in her team’s strategy, which focused on maintaining a visible presence throughout the race.

From the start, Team Visma demonstrated their intent, with Lieke Nooijen and Vigié making early moves. Notably, Vigié worked alongside Pfeiffer Georgi to forge a small lead as they pressed on with 30 kilometers remaining. Their efforts captured the excitement of the race until they were caught just 500 meters from the finish line.

Reflecting on the race, Vigié shared, “It’s a pity we were caught so close to the line, but overall it was a good day. I felt really good today. As a team, we were constantly visible at the front and involved in a lot of attacks.”

Ultimately, Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx – Protime clinched the victory, finishing the stage in 1:58:25. Vigié crossed the line shortly after, just 10 seconds behind, as the team set its sights on the upcoming stages, which are expected to favor sprinters.

“The next stages will probably be less demanding than today. But, just like today, we want to take the fight to SD Worx. The feeling within the team is very positive,” Vigié added, hinting at the team’s determination to remain competitive.

As the Simac Ladies Tour progresses, all eyes will be on Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women as they aim to build on their early momentum.
