In an impressive display during the 24.1-kilometre team time trial, Team Visma | Lease a Bike finished second, just ten seconds behind the winners, UAE Team Emirates. The squad started as the penultimate team, competing with just seven riders following Axel Zingle’s withdrawal. Despite an early lead at the first checkpoint, a dip in momentum during the second split appeared challenging, but the team’s strong finish was pivotal.
Jonas Vingegaard expressed optimism after the race, saying, “I’m feeling good right now.” He added, “It was a good day for us. We lost some time to UAE, but we are still ahead of them in the general classification, and that’s something we can be happy about. We’re satisfied with the performance today. Everyone did a strong ride in the team time trial. I’m happy to be back in red and excited for tomorrow,” referring to the next stage finishing at the summit in Andorra.
Team sports director Jesper Mørkøv echoed Vingegaard’s sentiments, stating, “The team did well. We had a strong start, but in the middle section we briefly struggled to keep the pace high enough. Fortunately, we managed to fix that in the final kilometres. The way we finished today gives us confidence. Overall, we can be satisfied with the effort delivered.”
