Wright and Mohorič Lead Bahrain Victorious Line-up to Renewi Tour
# Bahrain Victorious Gears Up for Renewi Tour With Wright and Mohorič at the Helm
Team Bahrain Victorious is set to embark on the challenging 20th edition of the Renewi Tour, kicking off on August 20 in Terneuzen and culminating in Leuven after five grueling stages. Spanning 920.4 kilometers and featuring a total ascent of 5,983 meters, this race is infamous for its intense and aggressive racing style, where strategic positioning is crucial to achieving success.
### Strong Leadership and Team Dynamics
Fred Wright and Matej Mohorič will spearhead Bahrain Victorious’s efforts, both riders renowned for their ability to tackle the demanding terrain effectively and aimed at securing a spot in the General Classification. They will be aided by a formidable team that includes Kamil Gradek, Robert Stannard, Fran Miholjević, and Daniel Skerl. Additionally, Matevž Govekar will be on the lookout for stage wins, particularly eyeing Stage 2 as a prime opportunity for sprinters.
### Insights from the Team’s Sports Director
Michal Golas, the Sports Director for Bahrain Victorious, shared the team’s strategy: “We have two leaders with Fred and Matej, and our focus will be on the GC. They’ve recovered well and are in great shape. Fred showed his form in Hamburg, and Matevž will also be a factor in the sprints, while playing a key role in helping us secure vital seconds in the Green Kilometre marks, which will be important in the GC fight. The two boys coming from the Tour, Kamil and Rob, bring valuable experience in positioning, while Fran will be crucial in protecting our GC contenders. Daniel will provide support for Matevž in the sprints and also contribute in the Green Kilometre battles.”
### Anticipating a Challenging Race
Golas emphasized the complexities of the Renewi Tour: “Overall, we have a solid line-up built around our GC ambitions. However, this race is never straightforward. The opening stage could feature crosswinds, Stage 2 will be hectic, and Stages 3 and 5 are true GC days — especially the tough finishing circuit on Stage 3. It’s going to be very demanding, and we’ll need to stay switched on every day if we want to fight for the GC.”
With a blend of seasoned riders and strategic planning, Bahrain Victorious is prepared to confront the unique challenges posed by the Renewi Tour, aiming for both individual stage victories and a strong performance in the General Classification.
