In southern Poland, the final stage of the Tour de Pologne saw Team Visma | Lease a Bike tackle an individual time trial on a challenging rolling course. Young cyclist Matthew Brennan emerged as the team’s standout performer, securing an impressive eleventh-place finish. Earlier in the week, the 20-year-old Brit had already showcased his talent by clinching his eleventh victory of the season.

“Matthew was determined to get a good result today, and he succeeded,” noted sports director Jesper Mørkøv. “Technically, it was a very strong display, and his numbers were great. The fact that he can do such a strong time trial on the seventh day of a WorldTour stage race is another big step in his development. He can be proud of this.”

Reflecting on the week, Mørkøv shared his satisfaction with the overall performance of the team. “It’s been a great seven days for the team. With Olav and Matthew, we took two beautiful stage wins, both the result of strong teamwork. That’s something we can be happy about as a team.”

Notably, Olav Kooij also made headlines by winning a stage in Poland for the fourth consecutive season. Mørkøv emphasized Kooij’s impressive ride in the penultimate stage, stating, “That’s quite special. On top of that, Olav rode strongly in the penultimate stage, which featured a lot of climbing. This week is a great boost for him toward the rest of his season. We’re all looking forward to that.”

As the curtains close on the Tour de Pologne, Team Visma | Lease a Bike leaves with a sense of accomplishment, underlining their potential for future competitions.
