Riedmann seventh in Dwars door het Hageland

It took a long time before a real breakaway formed. The race was made hard on the various gravel stretches, where many riders had to let go. A depleted peloton finally started the final local lap in Diest. Despite several attack attempts, the group stayed together. On the final climb of the Citadel of Diest, Riedmann was able to keep up for a long time but had to leave the victory to Brand.

“We rode a very good race as a team,” sports director Jos van Emden said, looking back with satisfaction. “The plan was to show ourselves today, and that worked out well. From the first gravel stretch, we got involved in the battle and rode in front. The riders rode as a team today, and it’s nice to see that they are learning.”  

Tomorrow, with the SPAR Flanders Diamond Tour, there is another race on the schedule for the riders of Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women. “Tomorrow is a different race than today, but we are going there with the same objective. I hope the riders show themselves at the front again. But if they ride like they did today, I am confident about that,” Van Emden concluded.
