Basque Rider Mikel Landa Secures Podium Spot at Volta a Catalunya
In the latest development at the Volta a Catalunya, Mikel Landa has solidified his place on the podium after an impressive performance on the challenging queen stage. The stage, spanning from Berga to Queralt and covering 154.7km with over 4000 vertical meters, proved to be a true test of skills and stamina for the riders.
The race saw Landa maintaining a strong position throughout the grueling climbs, including the newly introduced Coll de Pradell, where the pace quickened and the lead group dwindled to a select few. Landa showcased his experience and tactical acumen by remaining well-placed in the group, eventually finishing the stage in third place.
Reflecting on the race, Landa commented, “For a moment there, I believed we could catch Pogacar, but it turned out to be impossible in the valley. Nevertheless, we did a great job behind and I think we can be content with the result. It’s been a very good week for me, which is always excellent for the confidence.”
With one stage remaining in the Volta a Catalunya, Landa’s consistent performance has positioned him well and sets a positive tone for his upcoming races. The Basque rider’s success in the Soudal Quick-Step jersey underscores his strength and resilience in the demanding world of professional cycling.
