Koen Bouwman Finishes Seventh in Fourth Stage of Coppi e Bartali

In the fourth stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, cyclist Koen Bouwman maintained his lead in the race, finishing seventh in a closely fought stage. Team leader Robert Wagner expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “The big goal of the stage was achieved.” Despite some challenges faced by the team during the race, including a crash involving teammates Milan Vader and Johannes Staune-Mittet, Bouwman was able to defend his leader’s jersey.

Looking ahead to the final stage of the Italian race, Wagner highlighted the tough course that lies ahead for the riders, stating, “Tomorrow it goes up and down the whole time, and there is almost no meter flat.” While the main aim remains to defend the jersey, Wagner expressed confidence in the team’s ability to potentially secure a stage win if the opportunity arises. He concluded, “We won’t get it for free tomorrow, but I’m confident we can take the leader’s jersey back to the Netherlands.”

The stage saw Archie Ryan of EF Education – EasyPost clinch the victory, with Bouwman retaining his position at the top of the general classification. The Team Visma | Lease a Bike riders put in a strong collective effort, with Johannes Staune-Mittet, Milan Vader, and other teammates maintaining solid overall rankings in the standings as well. The race continues to showcase the resilience and determination of the team’s riders in the challenging cycling event.
