Reflecting on his performance, Costiou mentioned, “I stuck to the plan that Arnaud Gérard and Sébastien Hinault had set me at the briefing, which was to test myself against the best.” Despite losing contact just a kilometer from the summit of Mont Brouilly, Costiou expressed satisfaction with his day and acknowledged the high level he had achieved. He commented, “The riders in the peloton at the top of the first climb were just ‘champions.’”
Costiou’s efforts placed him in the 20th position at the finish line, emphasizing the grueling nature of the race. Citing the challenging weather conditions of cold and rain, Costiou appreciated the support of his team-mates for their strategic positioning during crucial moments of the stage. The experience left him content with the outcome, despite falling short of his top 10 goal.
