Soudal Quick-Step Overcomes Challenges in Paris-Nice Team Time Trial

In a challenging stage of Paris-Nice, Soudal Quick-Step demonstrated strength and determination in the team time trial despite facing unfortunate weather conditions. The riders put up a strong performance but had to adapt to unexpected circumstances.

A significant reshuffling of the general classification took place in the team time trial stage held in Auxerre. Soudal Quick-Step’s lineup, consisting of Mattia Cattaneo, Remco Evenepoel, Yves Lampaert, Gianni Moscon, Casper Pedersen, Ilan Van Wilder, and Louis Vervaeke, started off strong. They led in the provisional standings but faced challenges in the later part of the race due to heavy rain and technical corners.

Despite the challenges faced, Sports Director Tom Steels commended the team’s effort, stating,

“The time trial went quite ok, the guys had a good start which you could see at the split. Unfortunately, we lost quite a lot until the end. We were a bit surprised and we need to see what happened, but what is clear is that the riders didn’t slow down, so it’s possible that the weather played a significant role in today’s outcome”.

Soudal Quick-Step’s performance in the team time trial sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the Paris-Nice race, with Remco Evenepoel holding on to eighth place as they prepare for the challenging stage four to Mont Brouilly.
