2024 AlUla Tour: Groenewegen & Yates Lead Team Jayco AlUla
The 2024 UCI AlUla Tour is gearing up with Team Jayco AlUla set to take on the competition with star cyclists Dylan Groenewegen and Simon Yates leading the charge. Groenewegen, who has a strong track record at the event with three stage wins and two points classification titles in the last two editions, is looking to add more victories to his name. According to Groenewegen, “I always look forward to returning to AlUla, it is a beautiful place and I have good memories of racing there over the last two years.”
Yates, on the other hand, will make his debut in Saudi Arabia, fresh off a sixth-place finish at the Santos Tour Down Under. The team’s sport director, Tristan Hoffman, commented on their strategy, stating, “We’re going to AlUla with a really strong team, we have Simon for the GC and it will be important for him not to lose time on the early stages.”
The team is bolstered by a strong support squad including Elmar Reinders and Luka Mezgec. Hoffman emphasized the need for a strategic approach, saying, “The other guys will support Dylan and Simon, and we have seen in the past there could be some crosswinds so we will need to be focused during the stages.”
With the historic Arabic landscapes setting the stage for the five-day race, Team Jayco AlUla is poised to make an impact at the AlUla Tour, with a well-rounded team and two formidable leaders.
