Jhonatan Narvaez Secures Third Place in Willunga Showdown
In a thrilling battle on stage five of the Tour Down Under, Jhonatan Narvaez secured a hard-fought third place, narrowly missing out on the top spot by Oscar Onley and Stevie Williams. According to reports, “The Ecuadorian went toe to toe with his rivals on the famous Old Willunga Hill summit, after some superb work from his INEOS Grenadiers teammates.”
The race saw Narvaez take third and grab four bonus seconds, positioning him just five seconds off the race leader, Williams, as the event heads into the final day. Laurens De Plus played a pivotal role in supporting Narvaez during the race by helping him bridge back to the front.
The INEOS Grenadiers showcased a strong team effort during the stage, with Elia Viviani, Filippo Ganna, Ben Swift, Leo Hayter, and Josh Tarling all contributing to a brilliant pace. The race is set to conclude with another GC day, ending with the challenging Mount Lofty climb on Sunday.
