After a challenging third stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, sports director Addy Engels reflected on the team’s performance. Engels stated, “It was a quiet stage with a small lead group, as we predicted. Things got more hectic when that group was caught with over 30 kilometres to go. There were a lot of fast corners in the last ten kilometres.” Fortunately, the team stayed out of trouble and finished well despite the nerve-wracking final.

The team’s leader, Milan Vader, finished in the top twenty thanks to the team’s collective effort. Engels emphasized the importance of staying close to the finish in the upcoming stages, stating, “The aim is not to interfere in the sprint, but Milan needs to be as close to the finish as possible every day.” Engels emphasized the significance of stage results in the final classification, underscoring the importance of finishing close to the winner of the day.

Looking ahead, Engels highlighted the challenge of the upcoming stages, expressing the team’s goal to achieve the best possible result with Milan. With another bunch sprint expected in the following stage and mountaintop finishes over the weekend, Engels stressed the necessity of the team coming out strong.

The stage results saw Sam Welsford from BORA – hansgrohe clinching the top spot, with Milan Vader finishing in the top twenty, reiterating the team’s determination to secure strong results in the competition.
